Working with code lists You can work with code lists by selecting Company resources and then clicking Code lists from the Configuration Hub side navigation menu. Code list process flow overviewThe code list process flow includes all the actions necessary to deploy a code list into the production environment.Creating code listsYou can create a code list by yourself or ask either your company administrator or the IBM Support to create a code list for you.Deploying a code list to CTEWhen you finish uploading changes to the code list, you can deploy the changed code list to CTE to do end-to-end testing. Deploying variant and nonvariant code listsFrom the side navigation menu, select Company resources. Then, from Code lists, click Action options menu in the Code lists page. Here, you can Check out a code list to work on a variant or a nonvariant code list.Deploying a code list to productionAfter your code list is deployed to the customer test environment (CTE), you can deploy it to production.Requesting promotion of a changed code list to productionAfter your code list is deployed to the customer test environment (CTE), you can submit a production deployment request. This request alerts IBM® Services that your code list is ready to be deployed to production. Code list changes are deployed to production at a time that is agreed on in coordination with IBM® Services.Accessing a code list versionYou can access and download previous versions of code lists from the CTE and production environments.Locking and checking out a code listFrom the Action options menu in the Code lists page, you can lock, unlock, check out, and undo the check out of code lists. Locking a code list prevents anyone from changing the code list. Checking out a code list allows the person who checked it out to upload changes.Editing code listsAfter you check out a code list from Configuration Hub, you can edit it and then upload the modified code list. It is suggested that you keep these considerations in mind when you edit code lists.Updating code list descriptionsA company administrator (admin) or IBM Support can update the description for a code list.Changing code list typeA company administrator (admin) or IBM Support can update the type setting for a code list. A code list can have the same or different content in the CTE and production environments.Uploading changed code listWhen you check out a code list and edit it, you can upload the modified code list in Configuration Hub. Uploading the code list makes it immediately available to be used by the map editor transformation tests.Uploading modified production variant code listIf the code list type is set to contain different content in the CTE and production environments, you edit the production variant code list to use different content and then upload it. A company administrator (admin) or IBM Support can update the type setting for a code list.Overriding code list lockA company administrator (admin) or IBM Support can override (unlock) the lock that another user placed on a code list. Overriding code list check-outA company administrator (admin) or IBM Support can override (undo) the check-out that another user placed on a code list. The Undo check out function is only available when the user checks out the code list but not yet deployed.Transferring code list check-outYou can transfer the check-out that you placed on a code list to another user. The Transfer check out function is available after check out until production deployment or submit for manual deployment to production. function is only available if the user who checked out the code list uploaded a revised version of it.Comparing code listsYou can do a comparison between a currently deployed CTE code list and a currently deployed production code list to understand if they are identical at the time of the comparison. Synchronizing code listsIf a code list in Configuration Hub is listed in its Final status, IBM Support now can proceed to edit a code list directly in Config Center without first locking the code list in Configuration Hub. This process helps IBM staff to speed up the working process but still able to synchronize the code list from Config Center.Finding and downloading a code listYou can use the information in this section to search for and download code lists.Parent topic: Configuration Hub
