Setting up connections

A company administrator (admin) can add a new inbound (or outbound) connection for sending (or receiving) data.

About this task

A company administrator(admin) can set up a new connection for the company to receive data (outbound connection) from Configuration Hub or send data (inbound connection) to Configuration Hub. The receiving data connection has two modes from Configuration Hub: pull or push. Pull mode helps you to initiate a connection with Configuration Hub to pull the data to your company. Whereas push mode helps you to set up a connection for Configuration Hub to push the data over to your company.

To set up a new send or receive connection, select Company resources > Connections from the Configuration Hub side navigation menu to access the Connections list page.

Your connection might require you to follow protocols other than the APIs. In such a case, select the Hybrid connection checkbox when setting up the connection. This option helps create a connection flow that uses other protocols for transactions.

Procedure

  1. From the side navigation menu, select Company resources > Connections. Then, on the Connections list page, select New connection.
  2. On the New connections window, select the type of connection you want to set up by using the Protocol drop down.
  3. Input the name of the connection you need to set up in Connection name.
  4. Select the type of business alias from CTE business alias and its corresponding Production business alias displays automatically.
  5. Select the direction of connection. To receive data by creating an outbound connection, select receiving data. Alternatively, to send data by creating an inbound connection, select sending data.
  6. If you select sending data in the previous step, skip to step 8. If you select receiving data, decide who initiates the receiving data connection. To choose to receive data from SCBN, choose (Pull) <Your company name> will connect to B2Bi SaaS to deliver their data. Alternatively, choose (Push) B2Bi SaaS will connect to <Your company name> to deliver the data.
The Push and Pull options display only if you clear the selection for the Hybrid connection checkbox.
  7. Optional: To enable integration with IBM-approved external systems, select the External integration checkbox.
The feature is available for only the sending type, inbound connections. For more information, see Adding CTE configurations for inbound (push) connection.
  8. If the flow for the connection follows protocols other than API, select the Hybrid connection checkbox. If you leave this checkbox cleared, the connection protocol is set to API.
  9. Enter the description for the connection that you set up using the Connection description (optional).
  10. Select Create connection to save the settings for the connection.
