Managing users

You can manage the users in your company by going to Settings > Manage users. Each user can have multiple accounts linked to their IBMid. The accounts linked to a user's IBMid are called linked accounts.

About this task

For example, you can add a user and give them an admin role, and then follow the same process to give them an account with a user role. Both of these accounts would then show up on the user's My account page. After they log in to B2Bi SaaS Hub, they can use the drop down menu in the banner (which says Account 1 by default) to choose which account they are currently using. They do not need to log in separately for each one.

Therefore, while most users in your company will probably only have one account, multiple accounts can be useful for any users who need both user and admin permissions, or for users (such as consultants) who need access to multiple companies.

Procedure

  1. Go to Settings > Manage users.
  2. Click Add users.
  3. Select the role you would like the new account or accounts to have. You can add up to 100 new user accounts at once. All accounts that you add at the same time receive the same role and application access.
  4. Enter the email address of the user or users you would like to create accounts for.
  5. Optionally, enter a custom message. Custom messages are included in the email invitation users receive after their account is created.
  6. Add the applications this user or these users should have access to. Click Add all entitled applications to quickly add all the applications available to your company, or select specific applications from the list.
For a deployed instance of your application or microservices, you can assign one of the following access privileges:
    • All access. Along with access to viewing and downloading, a user with this access privilege can create, edit, deploy, and transfer check-out for code lists, connections, and maps.
    • View only. A user with this access privilege can only view and download a code list, connection, or map. A business user with this privilege can still run map test by using a map either with or without a code list, provided they have View only privilege for code lists.
    • None. A user with this access privilege cannot view or download a code list, connection, or map. A business user, even with None privilege can still run map test by using a map without a code list.
Note: As an IBMer, you can access all code lists, connections, and maps irrespective of what resource access permissions you are granted.
Note: This feature impacts only customer administrators and customer users of Configuration Hub. For more information about users, see Roles and responsibilities in Configuration Hub.
  7. Complete any additional drop down menus that might display depending on the applications you select.
  8. Click Invite.

What to do next

Users will receive an email prompting them to log in to their account. They must have an IBMid to log in. If they don't already have one, the invitation guides them through the process of creating one. You can see invited users who do not have an IBMid on the Invited tab.

If a user can't find their invitation, you can resend it by clicking the three-dot menu next to their account and then clicking Resend invite. You can also revoke their invitation and associated application access by clicking the three-dot menu and then clicking Cancel.
