COBOL Copybook Conversion for Use with Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor
The Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor allows you to select a COBOL copybook file layout (in ASCII text) as input to the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor for the positional side of a map. The conversion of COBOL copybook is accomplished using the third-party open source tool CB2XML (Copy-Book-to-XML), which is a COBOL copybook to XML converter. CB2XML accepts a COBOL copybook file layout as input and returns an XML file as output, and the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor then converts the intermediate XML file to the positional format.
For Sterling B2B Integrator version 8.0 and higher, the CB2XML.jar needs to be explicitly downloaded from the Internet, where it is freely available. Prior to version 8.0, the CB2XML.jar was downloaded and installed along with the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor install under the Third Party directory within the install directory.
When you upgrade to Sterling B2B Integrator version 8.0 and higher from a previous version, if the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor is installed overlaying an existing Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor install, you will not receive a warning to install the CB2XML jar separately because the jar is already present from the earlier version. If the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor from a version 8.0 or higher instance is installed after you uninstall the previous version of the Sterling B2B Integrator Map Editor, you receive a warning when you create a positional map using the COBOL copybook file. The warning provides the URL you use to download the CB2XML jar.
