Changing the administrator password

The Global Mailbox administrator password that is used to access the Global Mailbox management tool might need to be changed at regular intervals, depending on your password security policies.

Before you begin

Only administrators that sign in directly to the Global Mailbox management tool can change their Global Mailbox administrator password with the Administrator menu. If an administrator signs in to the Global Mailbox management tool from an application by single sign-on, Change password, on the Administrator menu, is not available.

To change the administrator password:

Procedure

  1. On the Global Mailbox toolbar, click the Administrator menu.
  2. Click Change Password....
    Remember: If an administrator signs in to the Global Mailbox management tool from an application by single sign-on, Change password, in the Administrator menu, is not available.
    The Change Password wizard opens.
  3. Type the current password in the Current Password field.
  4. Type your new password in the New Password field.
    Important: Password requirements are dependent upon the system password rules that are specified in the global.properties file for the following properties:
    com.ibm.mailbox.admin.password.minimum.length
    Minimum password length. Default value is 6 characters.
    com.ibm.mailbox.admin.password.lowercase.required
    Whether at least one lowercase character is required. If true, password must contain at least one lowercase character. If false, password can contain any number of lowercase characters, including zero. Default value is false.
    com.ibm.mailbox.admin.password.uppercase.required
    Whether at least one uppercase character is required. If true, password must contain at least one uppercase character. If false, password can contain any number of uppercase characters, including zero. Default value is false.
    com.ibm.mailbox.admin.password.numeric.required
    Whether at least one numeric character is required. If true, password must contain at least one numeric character. If false, password can contain any number of numeric characters, including zero. Default value is false.
  5. Type your new password again in the Confirm Password field.
  6. Click OK to save the changes to your password.

What to do next

The system logs out your session when the changes to your password are saved. Log in to the system with your existing user name and new password to resume your session.
