Memento
Mementos are recorded dates with a history of activity that the reaper mechanism creates.
Mementos protect against clock error. For example, if the system clock is accidentally set to a future time, the reaper begins reaping data before the data expires. If there are gaps between the dates in the list that exceed the value of ReaperAcceptableMementoDayRange, reaping is suspended. The server continues to create memento entries, so if enough days go by such that the mementos come back into acceptable range, then reaping resumes. The suspension of reaping gives the administrator time to fix the clock.
