Removing user permissions for a mailbox

You can remove user permissions to restrict access to view or modify a Global Mailbox and its messages. By removing permissions from the Mailbox Explorer page of the Global Mailbox management tool, you can remove permissions for all users that have permissions to a specific Global Mailbox.

Before you begin

Users must exist in the application. The user name is defined in the application and is associated with the permissions in Global Mailbox.

Only Global Mailbox administrators can remove user permissions.

About this task

To remove user permissions for a Global Mailbox:

Procedure

  1. From the Mailbox Explorer page, select a Mailbox in the mailbox navigation pane.
  2. Click the Permissions tab.
The table displays the mailbox creator, the users, and their permissions for this mailbox.
  3. Within the row for a User, check the boxes to select and deselect the permissions in the list.
  4. Or, click a User to link to their record.
A new wizard is displayed that shows the permissions for that user.
  5. Click Edit and check the boxes to select and deselect the permissions.
Important: Checking the All Permissions check box for a record grants all permissions for that user on the mailbox, including application specific permissions not shown in the table. Changes are saved automatically. If one or more permissions for that user is revoked, the All Permissions check box becomes unchecked.

Unchecking the All Permissions check box for a record revokes all permissions for that user on the mailbox, including application specific permissions not shown in the table. Changes are saved automatically. When revoking all permissions this way, the record remains and is not deleted from the system.

  6. Click Finish to save your selections.
