Backing up and restoring your system

By regularly backing up your system and each of the components, you can restore service after failure of a component. The procedures vary by component.

Symptoms

Data might become corrupted at several points in your system, or nodes might fail. The architecture and configuration of Global Mailbox provides redundant components so that operations can continue after some components fail. Restoring service to the failed components re-establishes the beneficial redundancy of components.

Causes

Computers and servers are subject to occasional failures. Databases can become corrupted by hardware failure or abrupt system shutdown while the database is open.

Environment

Windows, UNIX, or Linux®.

Resolving the problem

To recover from a failure, complete the steps in the following topics according to the components.
