Problems and solutions for upgrading

You might not be able to run AS4 Microservice if an upgrade does not delete the temporary workarea directory for all members of the installation.

Symptoms

After an upgrade, the following log message is displayed in the installation log of the IBM® Installation Manager:
Failed to delete install_dir\Members\member_type\usr\servers\member_type\workarea\.sLock

This message might appear for each of the four member types (informational, operational, catalog, container).

After this message is displayed, you might not be able to run AS4 Microservice.

Resolving the problem

If you see a log message that the workarea directory was not deleted, delete that directory for each of the affected members before you start those members. Delete one or all of the following directories, depending on how many log messages are displayed:
  • install_dir\Members\Informational\usr\servers\Informational\workarea
  • install_dir\Members\Operational\usr\servers\Operational\workarea
  • install_dir\Members\WXSCatalog\usr\servers\WXSCatalog\workarea
  • install_dir\Members\WXSContainer\usr\servers\WXSContainer\workarea
