Installation checklist

The installation checklist contains the tasks you need to complete prior to installing Sterling B2B Integrator.

For a clustered environment, record the information for each node in the cluster.

Note: The clustered environment does not support AS2 Edition.

# Installation Checklist
1 Review your IBM contract to determine what software you have licensed. You need to know this License Information so that you can select the correct components/features to install.
2 Ensure that you have read and write privileges on the parent installation directory.
3 Determine which installation method you are going to use:
  • IBM Installation Manager (Graphical User Interface)
  • IBM Installation Manager (Response File)
Note: Starting with IIM release 1.10.1, IIM requires 64-bit Version 11 Java and does not provide GUI support for AIX. Users on a 32-bit platform must transition to a 64-bit platform to install or upgrade to IIM version 1.10.1.
For users already on a 64-bit platform, the reInstallIM command can be used to transition IIM from a 32-bit to a 64-bit architecture:
  1. To perform this upgrade, run the command:
    ./userinstc -reinstallIM -acceptLicense
  2. Use the response file to install or upgrade Sterling B2B Integrator to v6.2.1.0.
4 Decide which type of security certificates you will use:
  • The default self-signed SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate that is automatically installed.
  • A Certificate Authority-related certificate that you install before installing Sterling B2B Integrator.

For more information, see Security certificates.

5 Determine the ports that are to be used. Sterling B2B Integrator requires a range of 200 consecutive open ports between 1025 and 65535. The port range starts with the initial port number and ends with the number that equals the initial port number plus 200.
Note: Because of RMI, on occasion, a port number outside the range may be assigned.

For more information, see Port Numbers.

6 If you are using an Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or DB2 database and if you are going to manually apply DDL statements, decide if you are going to manually or automatically apply Database Definition Language (DDL) Statements (schema) to the database.
7 If you are using an Oracle database, you must set it up for native compilation by allocating space and by setting the plsql_native_library_dir parameter.
8 If you are using the Unix/Linux operating systems, verify the following items:
  • An operating system user account exists on the host server.
  • User account has permissions to run the commands for the operating environment.

For more information, see UNIX accounts.

9 If you are using the Unix/Linux operating systems, verify that you have installed the following software:
  • An X Window windowing system.
  • A Telnet client

For more information, see Installing an X Windows system for Unix/Linux.

10 If you are using the Unix/Linux operating systems, set the ulimit and language as follows:
  • ulimit -n 4096
  • ulimit -u 16000
  • export LANG=en_US
11 If you are using a messaging queue, add the required properties to the customer_overrides.properties file. For more information, see Properties for messaging queues.
12 Complete the installation worksheet.
