Copying storage configuration to other data centers

If you modify the storage configuration, you must manually copy the files to other data centers. This operation must be conducted in maintenance mode when there are no transactions occurring.

Before you begin

Complete the following tasks:
  1. Stopping Cassandra nodes for data center maintenance
  2. Stopping ZooKeeper nodes for data center maintenance
  3. Creating a storage passphrase
  4. Provisioning storage

About this task

Important: If the configuration must be changed, the storage bucket variant must be retired and a new variant provisioned. This operation must be conducted during a maintenance mode when there are no transactions occurring.

To copy a storage configuration to other data centers:

Procedure

  1. Locate the file specified as base file path in the ./storageConfigurator.sh -provision script.
For example, if /shared/storage is the shared storage space for Global Mailbox that is specified as the base file path when configuring the bucket global_mbx and variant 12, the directory is /shared/storage/global_mbx_var12. This is the bucket variant directory.
  2. Copy the bucket variant directory and the contents to the other data centers.
  3. Restart Global Mailbox.
