Backing up and preparing for upgrading to a fix pack

The first phase to upgrade to a fix pack is backing up your data and preparing.

Procedure

To back up and prepare before upgrading, complete the following steps:

  1. Back up all nodes in all data centers to ensure that if something goes wrong during the upgrade, you can restore your backups.

For more information, see Backing up and restoring your system.

  2. Prepare a list of all servers and data centers, and identify the initial node and the data center in which it is.

In Global Mailbox, the initial node is the first node that is installed when you run the installer. The initial node creates the database schema in Cassandra, which is allowed only one time across all nodes in all data centers.

  3. Download the required installation repositories.
