Global Mailbox installation modes

You can install Global Mailbox system through user interface and silent installation modes.

User interface mode

User interface mode of installation is a wizard mode. In addition to using the mode to install Cassandra, ZooKeeper, Global Mailbox and Sterling B2B Integrator nodes, you can use it to develop sandboxes or to record response files to use for silent mode installation.

Installation options in the user interface offers the following options:
Important: Installation options that are not supported for the platform on which you are installing are disabled (grayed out) or not displayed. If an option or feature is disabled (grayed out) or is not displayed, check that the feature or option you are trying to install is supported on the platform you are on.
Initial Global Mailbox Node
When selected, the option installs the initial Global Mailbox node. You can install the initial Global Mailbox node along with Sterling B2B Integrator or on an existing Sterling B2B Integrator installation. You can also install Global Mailbox when updating to Sterling B2B Integrator However, the version of Global Mailbox must match the version of Sterling B2B Integrator that you are updating to or installing. In Global Mailbox, there is only one initial Global Mailbox node. All other Global Mailbox nodes (in the same or other data centers) are considered as additional nodes.
Additional Global Mailbox Node
You must use this option when installing second and subsequent nodes to the first data center or installing first node in the second and subsequent data centers.
Global Mailbox Prerequisite Installation
This option groups the following prerequisite components, which must be installed before you install the Global Mailbox nodes.
Global Mailbox Cassandra Node
In the Global Mailbox system, the Cassandra node is used to replicate metadata. This option is available on Linux only.
Global Mailbox ZooKeeper Node
In the Global Mailbox system, Apache ZooKeeper is used for coordinating data among the various nodes in a cluster or across data centers. This option is available on Linux only.
The following table illustrates the installation options, the components that are installed, and the prerequisites for each option:

Silent installation mode

You can automate your deployment of Global Mailbox to clusters by using the silent installation mode. A response file defines the silent installation. Silent installation is started from the command line or a batch file. For more information about silent installation mode, see Creating a response file.
