Uploads and downloads

In the Files app, upload files and folders so that you can share that content with others. Download from the Files app to access file and folder contents. In the Packages app, send a package to upload package contents to a transfer server. Download packages to access package contents.

In the Files app

To open the Files app, click the app switcher and select Files.

Upload

Remember that files and folders you upload to your Files app are not visible to other workspace members until you share them. Note also that you have full Edit permission to content you upload.

Add files and folders to your Files app in any of several ways:

  • Drag content from your local machine or from a remote source and drop it into your Files app.
  • Click the Upload icon, select Upload file or Upload folder, then browse to select content from your Finder or Explorer.

    The AoC administrator controls whether or not you can upload to your Files app. If you don't see the Upload icon, check with your admin.

  • Save to your Files app from your Packages app; in your Packages app, do the following:
    1. To save an entire package, right-click the package row and select Save in Files.
    2. To save specific content within a package, click the package row to open the details panel; then right-click the item row and select Save in Files.

      The root level of your Files app in the same workspace displays.

    3. Select the location in your Files app where you want this content to reside.
    4. Click Save.
    Note that you can save between apps in the same workspace only. You cannot save from the Packages app in Workspace A to the Files app in Workspace B.

Download

To download items to your default download location (configure your default location in IBM Aspera Connect: Preferences > Transfers), select the checkbox on one or more rows, then click Download at the top of your Files list.

To override the default download location, select the checkbox on one or more rows, then click Download to...; select the intended location from your Finder or Explorer, then click OK.

Note: Selecting Download to... affects only this download. To change your default download location, open Aspera Connect from your system tray or launcher; go to Preferences > Transfers. In the Downloads location field, enter the default location for your downloads.

If you are not using Aspera Connect, check the Downloads location of your browser.

You must have the required permission to an item to download it. If you don't have download permission, ask the person who shared the item with you to grant you Download permission. Check the secondary text on the row of the file or folder to see who shared it with you.

In the Packages app

To open the Packages app, click the app switcher and select Packages.

Upload

When you send a package, you upload the package contents to the transfer server. There is no upload action separate from sending a package. Click Send files, and follow the procedure in Quick start: Send files and folders.

You can move files and folders from the Files app directly to your Packages app in the same workspace. In the Files app, check the box to select one or more items, then select Send via Packages.

Download

To download packages or items within packages, do the following:

  1. To download an entire package to your default download location, right-click the package row and select Download.

    To override the default download location for a specific download, right-click and select Download to...; select the intended location from your Finder or Explorer, then click OK. To change your default download location, open Aspera Connect from your system tray or launcher; go to Preferences > Transfers > Downloads location.

  2. To download multiple packages, select the check box to the left of each package to download and click Download at the top of the Packages list.
  3. To download one or more items from within a package, do the following:
    1. Click the package row to display the details panel.
    2. To download a single item to your default download location, click the Download icon on the item row.
    3. To download multiple items to your default download location, select the check box to the left of each item and click Download at the top of the content list.
