Before you begin
Just a few prerequisites before you begin: you most likely need to download the IBM Aspera Connect transfer client, a free, easy-to-install app that powers Aspera high-speed transfers between your desktop and Aspera on Cloud. And be sure to use a supported web browser.
Transfer protocol
Aspera Connect is the default transfer method for Aspera on Cloud. But if your network environment does not permit software downloads, your administrator has configured an alternative transfer method, the IBM Aspera HTTP Gateway.
If your organization uses Aspera Connect for transfers, your Aspera on Cloud app displays a prompt that guides you through a very simple download and installation process. You install the Aspera Connect app once on your computer, and you install a browser extension in each browser that you use to access Aspera on Cloud.
If your organization uses the Aspera HTTP Gateway, you won't be prompted to take any action to download and install. In either case, you'll enjoy the speed and predictability of Aspera high-speed transfers.
