Reporting activity and usage
You can download reports of your filtered results in CSV format. Depending on your Aspera on Cloud edition, you can export a report or you can generate an asynchronous report.
Export reports
If you subscribe to the Aspera on Cloud Essentials edition, you can export a report. Exported reports can have up to approximately 100,000 records. The oldest records beyond this limit may not be included. For larger data sets, use the custom Start date and End date filters to export multiple reports with shorter time frames.
Note that exporting a large report may take some time. Once the export process completes, the compressed archive (.zip) appears in the download location you select when you export.
- In the top-right corner of the page, click Export.
- Name your report (report_name.zip) and click Export.
- Select the location for the report download. The downloaded ZIP file contains one or more CSV files, depending on your filtering.
Enable and generate asynchronous reports
If you subscribe to the Standard Plus or Premium edition, your organization administrator can enable you to generate reports that are stored in a shared space in the Activity app. Then you can generate reports of any size. Report generation is asynchronous, so you are free to attend to other tasks even during extended processing times. When the report is available, you can view it on the Stored reports page in the Activity app.
If you are an org admin, enable stored reports for your organization as follows:
- Go to Admin > Applications > Activity.
- Check the box labeled Enable stored reports.
- In the field that displays, select the location to store these reports.
Select any attached node. The default path for Activity reports is /Activity reports. If desired, select a different path; Aspera on Cloud creates a folder called "Activity reports" in the location you select. The reports generated by all Activity app users are stored in this "Activity reports" folder.
- Click Save.
If you change this location, reports in the original location may be inaccessible through the Stored reports page. To troubleshoot, see Stored report not available in Activity app.
To generate a stored report, do the following:
- On any page in the Activity app, click Export.
- Name the report and click Export. When the report is available, Aspera on Cloud displays a toast notification.
- To view the report, go to Stored reports. This page displays reports generated by all users.
- To download or get information on any report, right-click the report row and select from the menu.
- If desired, use the filter to display all reports or only the reports that you generated. You can also filter for report type.
