Configure link styles for requesting digital packages

Members of the Aspera on Cloud Packages application send URL links, also called submission links, when requesting files and folders from others. The administrator can configure one of three link styles that Aspera on Cloud generates for file request operations.

When a Packages app users requests another user to send a digital package, Aspera on Cloud sends the recipient an email notification containing a link. The link opens an AoC portal interface that allows the recipient to compose and send a digital package.

There are three URL styles available:

• Standard URLs
  • Select Standard to generate full-length URLs.

• Short URLs
  • Short URLs are enabled by default for a workspace.
  • Example of short URL: https://aspera.pub/2dexfa
• Personalized URLs
  • When you select Personalized, Aspera on Cloud uses a default that includes the sender's username, or, for a shared inbox, the shared inbox name.
    • Example of default personalized URL for a user: https://aspera.pub/2dexfa/Jane_Doe
    • Example of default personalized URL for a shared inbox named "Captions": https://aspera.pub/2dexfa/Captions
  • When you select Personalized, users can customize the default URL and compose a string of up to 240 characters. All characters beyond the conventional alphanumeric set (A through Z; a through z; 0 through 9) are replaced with underscore characters.
  • Example of customized personalized URL: https://aspera.pub/2dax/My_Own_Personal_Link

1. To configure the global Packages app, go to Applications > Packages > Settings > Public and authenticated links > URL styles.
2. Select one of the following:
   • Standard
   • Short
   • Personalized
3. Click Save.

   The setting you choose here is inherited by all workspaces in the organization. To override these inherited settings for a given workspace, go to the next step.

4. To configure this Packages app settings for a given workspace, do the following:
   1. Go to Workspaces > workspaceName > Applications > Packages > Profile.
   2. Clear the box labeled Use global app settings.
   3. Go to Public and authenticated links > URL styles; select the intended style.
   4. Click Save.
