Delete large files and folders

Use this topic to troubleshoot issues that arise when you delete large files and folders in your Aspera on Cloud Files app workspace.

In the vast majority of cases, deleting a file or folder is an operation performed by your cloud storage. Deleting very large items may require some time to complete; the larger the file or folder, the longer the operation takes. For the largest files and folders, it may take several hours or even an entire day or more. AoC treats deletion as a background operation so you can continue working in Files while the operation completes. See "Managing files in the Aspera on Cloud user guide for related information.

After you initiate the delete operation, AoC recommends that you not perform other actions on the item.

Refresh the browser to verify that the operation is complete and the file or folder no longer displays.

If after some time you refresh your browser and still see the item you want to delete, to the following:
  1. Perform the delete operation again.
  2. If the item is a folder, try deleting sub-folders or files within the folder first; then perform the delete operation on the folder again.
  3. If the issue persists, contact your local tech support administrator: click in the banner and select "Technical Support".
