Prerequisites
Before a user in your organization can use the Automation app, an admin must enable the app and add members. The admin must also enable communication between the Activity app and the attached node and storage.
- Your organization must have the Standard Plus or Premium edition of Aspera on Cloud. To confirm your subscription level, click the user menu icon at the top right of the page, then click Account settings.
- Both the Activity app and the Automation app must be enabled. See Enabling the Automation app and adding members.
- Add your transfer node IP address to your firewall allowlist (whitelist). See the section about firewall requirements in Prerequisites.
- You must configure the node attached to your Aspera on Cloud app to send data to the Activity app. See the following sections in this article.
Configure an Aspera on Cloud node to send data to the Activity app
To enable the Automation app, you must first configure the Aspera on Cloud node to send data to the AoC Activity app. This process ensures that Automation receives the data it needs to function properly.
- In the left navigation menu, click Nodes and storage > Node policies.
- Click Configuration policies, then click Add policy.
- Enter a name for the configuration policy and update other fields, as needed.
- Check the box labeled AEJ logging, then click Save.
- In the left navigation, click Nodes.
- Select your node and apply the new configuration policy.
Configure your tethered node to send data to the Activity app
A tethered node is a user-managed High-Speed Transfer Server that is attached, or tethered, to Aspera on Cloud. For the tethered node to work properly with Automation, you must first configure it to send data to the AoC Activity app. This process ensures that Automation receives the data it needs to function properly.
These are the requirements for using a tethered node with Automation:
- The HST server installed on the node must be v. 4.0 or higher.
- Nodes on the Windows platform are not currently supported.
To tether a node to your Aspera on Cloud organization, see Tether Your Aspera Transfer Server to Aspera on Cloud. The specific procedure in the tethering process is Configure Monitoring and Metering for your Tethered Node, but the entire tethering process is required.
