Import and export settings

Importing and exporting settings for Aspera for desktop facilitates swifter setups by enabling the sharing of settings from various sources. You can import configurations from your administrator or another system.

Import preferences from Aspera for desktop

Importing from Aspera for Desktop brings over the settings and linked accounts, but does not import existing transfers or passwords. To import settings from another Aspera for Desktop user or back up settings for later restoration after system changes, follow these steps:

macOS:

  1. Click File in the menu bar.
  2. Select Import Settings.
  3. A window with the Import settings options opens up. Select Import from IBM Aspera.
  4. Click Import and select the JSON file that has your settings. When the process is complete, the application shows Settings imported message.
WindowsTM:
  1. Click the three-dot icon in the menu bar.
  2. Select Import Settings.
  3. A window with the Import settings options opens up. Select Import from IBM Aspera.
  4. Click Import and select the JSON file that has your settings.

Linux:

  1. Click File in the menu bar.
  2. Select Import Settings.
  3. A window with the Import settings options opens up. Select Import from IBM Aspera.
  4. Click Import and select the JSON file that has your settings.

Export settings from Aspera for desktop

macOS:

  • In the menu bar, click File.
  • Select Export Settings, then select the file to import.
Windows:
  • In the menu bar, click File.
  • Select Export settings, then select the file to import.
Linux:
  • In the menu bar, click File .
  • Click Export Settings, then select the file to import.
Note: The exported file can be shared and imported to another computer.
