Adding an HSTS account

Link IBM Aspera for Desktop to an HSTS server using either Node API credentials or a transfer user over system-level credentials or SSH.

Attention: The HSTS server must use a valid TLS certificate and include any intermediate certificates.

To add your HSTS account to Aspera for desktop, follow these steps:

  1. In the navigation bar, go to Accounts.
  2. Click Link account and select IBM Aspera HSTS.
  3. In theIBM Aspera server field, enter the hostname or IP address of your HSTS server.
  4. Enter the Display name for the account. This field is optional.
  5. Choose your connection method:
    1. Node API (toggle off)
      - In the Username field, enter the Node API username or access key.
      - In the Password field, enter the Node API password or access key secret.
    2. Transfer user (toggle on)
      - In the Username field, enter the transfer user username or access key.
      - Select Password and enter the transfer user password, or select Public key and click Choose file to select the public key file.
      - In the Settings field add the SSH port (TCP). The default is 33001. If your server uses a different port, enter that value.
  6. Click Link.

Sync authentication

To enable sync with HSTS:

  1. Toggle Use transfer user to the on position.
  2. Select one of these authentication methods:
    1. System-level username and password,
    2. SSH key-based authentication for secure, passwordless access.

Before using SSH key authentication:

  • The transfer user has read and write access to the storage paths defined in the access key or docroot.
  • The SSH public key is in the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the HSTS host.

Managing accounts

You can Edit, Reload, or Remove the HSTS account.

  1. Go to Accounts and click the three-dot menu.
  2. Select the option that you want.
Note: The Reload option pulls the latest information from the server to get the latest image and name for the server.
