Area chart
You can add area charts to custom reports when you want to show the magnitude of change over time. An area chart is similar to a line chart. However, in an area chart, the area between the axis and the line is either colored or shaded.

Create area charts
You can create area charts using the following combinations:
- Dimensions (one), Metrics (one), and Date Range settings
- Dimensions (one), Metrics (one), Date Range, and View By settings
Customize area charts
The Options tab on the left pane contains various formatting options for your visualization. To customize the appearance of your area charts, you can use the following options.

Option | Description |
---|---|
Drill Mode | Select from None, Exploration Mode, or Fixed Table. |
Edit Drill Table | Select to open drill options. This is enabled only when you select the Drill Mode as Exploration Mode or Fixed Table. |
Filter Drill Table By | Select the measure(s) to filter the drill table with. |

Show chart values | Show values on a chart. |
Show tooltips | Show tool tip when you hover over a chart. |
Spline | Use smooth curves instead of straight lines. |
Legend | Show legend. |
Legend prefix | Add text as a prefix to legend values. |

Show scale | Show scale on the axis. |
Start scale at | Specify the start value for scale. |
End scale at | Specify the end value for scale. |
Decimal places | Specify the number of decimal places in the scale. |
Shorten numbers | Use short number format (for example, 1000 is displayed as 1k with this option). |
