Cloudability MSP data in Apptio BI empowers Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to construct detailed margin analysis reports and effortlessly monitor their customer base spending trends over time, ultimately improving overall margins. The newly integrated MSP data source combines the existing Cloudability Cost & Usage data source, providing users with a comprehensive overview of their customer portfolio's health at their preferred level of granularity.

How to Use Cloudability MSP Data

  1. Create a new visualization or edit an existing one.
  2. In the Data Source drop-down, select Cloudability MSP.
  3. In the Cloudability Views drop-down, select a View.
  4. Add your desired dimensions and metrics.
  5. In the Date Range section, select your desired time period (e.g., This Year-to-date).

Available Dimensions

Apptio BI supports Account Groups, Business Dimensions, Containers, Costs, Tags, Time, Usage, Vendor, and the following MSP dimensions:

Charge Metric The cost metric utilized to calculate the amount charged to the MSP's end customer.
End Customer Env ID End customer's environment ID; can be utilized to make API calls to the end customer's environment.
End Customer Name The name of MSP's end customer.
End Customer Pricing Method Pricing method for end customers: indicates if raw cloud vendor costs are passed through or MSP-defined pricing rules are applied.
Organization Hierarchy Unit ID Organization hierarchy unit ID, based on the Organization Structure Service setup (OSS).
Price Book Name Price book that matched the customer’s cost line items. "N/A" value indicates that the assigned price book does not cover all line items.
Pricing Rule Name Pricing rule that matched the customer’s cost line items. "N/A" value indicates that existing rules do not cover all line items

  • Access to Cloudability MSP is a distinct entitlement. To generate reports using this data source in Apptio BI, entitlement is necessary.
