Request services for projects and business units

◆ Applies to: Planning with Service Demand Planning. The tasks below require you to license Service Demand Planning then edit the Company Profile to enable Service Demand Planning features.

NOTE: The Service Demand Planning module is no longer available from Apptio. The information below is provided for the benefit of current users of Service Demand Planning.

This Services view displays volume and usage-based costs incurred by using external services in your project. The Services view allows Project Owners, Business Relationship Manager, and Business Unit Owner to directly request services. These roles can manually enter or import current service details for their project or projects.

The Services view is one of two places where projects incur indirect costs. The other view is the Labor view. To display the Services view:

  1. This feature requires Service Demand Planning or Project Financial Planning. edit the Company Profile to enable Project Financial Planning or Service Demand Planning features.
  2. In the Plan menu, select a plan.

  3. In the Plan section menu, select Projects or Business Units.
  4. In the Plan sub-section menu, select all, one, or a group of projects or business units.
  5. On the Component menu, select Planning. See Learn more about the plan menus. > Services.
  6. The following columns are available:
    • Service or Provider - Displays the name of the service or provider.
    • Project or Consumer - Displays either the business unit or projects that consume the service (ensure your Admin has updated the dimensions).
    • To Account - Displays the account that will receive money for the service.
    • From Account - Displays the account that will be used to pay for the service.

      TIP: The To Account and From Account columns display information by default when the provider and consumer cells are populated. This information is editable. You can revert back to the default information by clicking Revert (img) next to the value in the cell.

    • 'Period' Quantity - Displays the time periods (months, quarters, and years) for the number of units a service is expected to be consumed by your projects or business units. You can add comparison columns at the quarter and year for granularity.
  7. To publish to Costing Standard, click Actions, then click Publish All Service Demand to Costing Standard.

NOTE: You can display a graph of costs on the Services view by selecting indirect costs for your projects on the Summary page.
