Forecast indirect service costs
◆ Applies to: Planning with Service Demand Planning. The tasks below require you to license Service Demand Planning then edit the Company Profile to enable Service Demand Planning features.
NOTE: The Service Demand Planning module is no longer available from Apptio. The information below is provided for the benefit of current users of Service Demand Planning.
A Budget Process Owner or Service Owner can enter or import current component-demand details for the service or services. View indirect costs for services on the Component Demand page. This page shows volume and usage-based costs incurred by using external services. Forecasting these indirect costs is important in helping to calculate unit cost.
- In the Plan menu, select a plan.
- In the Plan section menu, select Services.
- In the Plan sub-section menu, select a Cost Object or cost object group.
- On the Component menu, select Planning. See Navigate in Apptio
planning applications. > Component Demand. The following columns are available:
- Provider - The name of the service provider.
- Consumer - The name of the service receiver.
- To Account - Displays the account that will receive money for the service.

From Account - Displays the account that will be used to pay for the service.
TIP: The To Account and From Account columns display information by default when the provider and consumer cells are populated. This information is editable. You can revert back to the default information by clicking Revert (
) next to the value in the cell.
- 'Period' Quantity - Displays the time periods (months, quarters, and years) for the number of units of a service expected to be in demand. You can add comparison columns at the quarter and year for granularity.
TIP: You can view a graph of indirect costs for your services on the Summary page.
Publish service demand to Costing Standard
To publish service demand to Costing Standard:
- Open the Component Demand page.
- In the Plan sub-section menu, select All Services.
- Select Actions > Publish All Service Demand to Costing Standard.
