Estimate and forecast labor for projects and services

The Labor page allows you to estimate and forecast the amount of labor, using Labor Resource Pools required to provide a project or service. Before you forecast labor, an Admin or Budget Process Owner must define the External and Internal Labor Pools and configure labor units in the Company Profile. See Manage Labor Configuration reference data and Edit the Company Profile.
You can view labor as either of the following:
- A full-time-equivalent (FTE) value
- By your prefigured unit of labor measure as defined in the Company Profile
To open the Labor page:
- In the Plan menu, select a plan.
- In the Plan section menu, select Projects or Services.
- In the Plan sub-section menu, select all, one, or a group of projects or services.
- On the Component menu, select Planning. See Navigate in Apptio planning applications. > Labor.
- The following tabs are available:
- Summary - Displays the labor associated with the project or service.
- Internal - Displays the internal labor associated with the project or service.
- External - Displays the external labor associated with the project or service.

Allocated - Displays all allocated labor associated with the project or service.
- The following columns are available in External and Internal:
- Project or Service - Displays the name of the project or service that is leveraging the resources of the Labor Pool.
- Labor Pool - Displays the name of the Labor Pool allocated to the project or service.
- Currency - Displays the currency when multiple-currency support is enabled.
- To Account - Displays the account that will receive money for the labor.

From Account - Displays the account that will be used to pay for the labor.
TIP: The To Account and From Account columns display information by default when the provider and consumer cells are populated. See Manage Allocation Configuration reference data. This information is editable. You can revert back to the default information by clicking Revert (
) next to the value in the cell.
- 'Period' Quantity - Displays the time periods (months, quarters, and years) for the number of units of a Labor Pool expected to be in demand. You can add comparison columns at the quarter and year for granularity.
- To publish to Costing Standard, click Actions, then click Publish Labor to Costing Standard.
TIP: You can display a graph of costs on the Labor page by selecting indirect costs for your projects on the Summary page.
