Integrated Investment Planning allows IT organizations to gain a deeper understanding of investment costs and their impact on current and future budgets. The investments can be a project, a portfolio epic, or a value stream depending on terminology or execution model used in your organization. Investment costs, for example internal and external labor, infrastructure, and vendor, can be planned from both a Build and Run perspective to provide a complete picture of Total Cost of Ownership, while informing future operational budget needs. Integrated Investment Planning allows IT leadership to gain in-depth insight into the true cost of investments and impact on overall IT budget, while tracking individual investment costs to plan and make adjustments in real time.
- Integrated expense planning - tag any budget line item with a planned or existing investment.
- Labor resource planning - allocate resources to investments, using role-based or name-based methods, with support for cross-charging.
- Build and run cost planning - plan out the full lifetime costs of investments, both cost to deliver and impact on future operational budgets.
- Customizable investment reporting and analytic in Apptio BI.
Integrated Investment Planning also offers the following benefits:
- Chief Information Officers and IT leaders can better run a business, change a business' costs, and see financial impacts of an investment over multiple years.
- Infrastructure and operations managers can budget the costs of dedicated and shared assets, labor, and contracts needed for investment delivery.
- Project or Portfolio managers and Project or Portfolio owners can budget build and run costs, capitalize resource costs, and model out-year run costs.
