Delegate project costs

Delegated costs provide project owners with a way to delegate project costs to a department budget, or, if enabled, a service budget. Delegated costs give Project Owners the flexibility to record expenses in the project but specify which departments will pay the future costs, and when. The Project Owner can delegate project expense line items (Labor, Contracts, Assets, other financials) from any tab on the Expenses page from a specified period.

For example, a project go-live date.

1. On the Component menu, click Planning. See Navigate in Apptio planning applications.
2. On the Plan menu, select a plan.
3. On the Plan Section menu, click Projects.
4. On the Plan Sub-section menu, select a project.
5. On the View menu, click Expenses.
6. In the Delegation section of the table, enter your delegation details. Delegated costs appear in purple.
   • To Cost Object Type - Select Department or Service.
   • To Cost Object - The Cost Object (Department or Service) that will incur the expense.
   • Start Date - The start date the Cost Object will incur the expense.
7. Select or clear the Show Delegated Costs checkbox to show or hide delegated costs in the table, KPIs, and analytics. Project, Department, and Service Owners can view delegated costs.
