Overview of the Benchmarking application
IBM Apptio Benchmarking is a SaaS application that places your actual costs side-by-side with trusted peer benchmarks. It does not require use of Costing, but is strongly recommended to leverage the integration features and Benchmark-enabled reports.
At a high level:
- Primary purpose
Enable apples-to-apples peer comparisons while leveraging the TBM taxonomy so you can evaluate cost levels, cost structure, and efficiency. - Core scope today
- Infrastructure cost and efficiency metrics at Resource Tower and Sub-Tower levels
- IT operating expense (OpEx) metrics mapped to Cost Pools and Towers
- Industry spend and labor metrics at an enterprise level
- How it works with Costing (if integrated)
- Enabled features in IBM Apptio Benchmarking:
- Costing provides actuals modeled into Cost Pools, Resource Towers, Resource Sub-Towers, and related dimensions
- Benchmarking aligns that model to external benchmark datasets
- Reports and dashboards then show your actuals versus peer metrics, with drill-through back to Costing for line-item analysis
- Enabled features in IBM Apptio Costing:
- A set of benchmark-enabled reports included in Costing that compare your actuals with selected benchmark profiles so that you can provide insight into benchmark differences and drill down to accounts and transactions.
