Running Toolkit integration solutions in App Connect on IBM Cloud

Use IBM® App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud® to deploy to IBM Cloud the integration solutions that you have developed in the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit, without the need to acquire and maintain an IT infrastructure.

Tip: An App Connect on IBM Cloud service is available that provides enterprise capabilities in the free Lite plan or one of the Enterprise plans. You can start with the free App Connect on IBM Cloud Lite plan, then upgrade later to one of the Enterprise plans with a choice of Pay As You Go (PAYG) plans or Custom Subscription options. For general information about choosing an App Connect on IBM Cloud plan, PAYG, or Custom Subscription options, and upgrading to IBM App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud, see Choosing and upgrading IBM App Connect.

In App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud, you can import a BAR file that contains all the artifacts that make up your integration solution, then run the contents in an integration server on IBM Cloud. Each integration server runs in its own container to ensure separation of workload. You can configure the size of a container, and the number of replicas, to make the best use of the total capacity that you have purchased, and to allow for better availability of the integration solutions.

You can see your integration servers on the App Connect Dashboard, alongside your event-driven flows and API flows; all in one place. You can use the dashboard to view the contents of your integration servers, and to configure and manage those servers.

To develop your integration solutions, you use the App Connect Toolkit that is part of IBM App Connect Enterprise software installed on Linux®, MacOS, or Windows. You can download the IBM App Connect Enterprise Developer Edition (that includes the toolkit), which is enabling software included with App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud service. (Users of Integration Bus version 10.0.0.8 or later can use the Integration toolkit to develop integration solutions to deploy in App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud.) Developing for deployment on IBM Cloud is the same as for deployment on other App Connect Enterprise environments, but with some considerations (see features, resources, and message flow nodes that are supported).

Note: In App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud, you can create and run event-driven flows and API flows besides importing and running your integration solutions that were created in the App Connect Toolkit. The information in this section is mainly about such integration solutions in IBM App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud; for information about creating and running event-driven flows and API flows, see Developing with IBM App Connect Designer .
