Providing user-defined properties to control behavior

User-defined properties can be set at design time, deployment time, or run time.

About this task

For example, user-defined properties can be queried, discovered, and set at run time to dynamically change the behavior of a message flow. You can use the administration REST API or IBM® Integration API to manipulate these properties, which can be used by a systems monitoring tool to perform automated actions in response to situations that it detects in the monitored systems.

• You can use the Message Flow editor to define a user-defined property when you construct a message flow. For more information, see Message Flow editor.
• You can set user-defined properties at deployment time to configure a message flow, as described in Configuring a message flow at deployment time with user-defined properties.
• You can use the administration REST API to modify user-defined properties on a message flow dynamically at run time, as described in Setting message flow user-defined properties at run time by using the administration REST API.
