Adding a connection in the Container Explorer view

Add a connection to an IBM® App Connect Enterprise certified container dashboard in the Container Explorer view of the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit.

Before you begin

Open the Container Explorer view in the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit as described in Opening the Container Explorer view in the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit.

About this task

You can add a connection to an IBM App Connect Enterprise certified container dashboard in the Container Explorer view of the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit.

Procedure

  1. In the Container Explorer view, right click Container Dashboards to open the menu.
  2. In the menu, click Add connection.
The Connect to a Container dialog opens.

The Connect to a Container dialog that you opened at step 2 includes advice on how to set the App Connect Dashboard API Base URL for the Dashboard to connect to.

  1. Set the App Connect Dashboard API Base URL by completing the following steps:
    1. From the Connect to a Container dialog, click https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/app-connect/13.0?topic=overview-accessing-api#certc_api_access__baseurl to open the document entitled "Accessing the API for IBM App Connect in containers"
    2. In the section that is entitled "Locating the base URL for the API endpoints", follow the advice in step 6 to identify the App Connect Dashboard API Base URL for your dashboard instance. Use the API and not the Dashboard UI or the Keycloak UI.
  2. Enter values in the following fields:
    1. In the App Connect Dashboard API Base URL, enter the unique API Base URL for the App Connect Dashboard instance that you identified in step 3.
    2. In Username enter your username to access the Dashboard instance.
    3. In Password enter the password for your username.
If the userid or password is wrong, an error message is displayed.
  3. Click Finish.

The new connection is visible under "Container Dashboards" in the Container Explorer view. A list of BAR files and a list of integration runtimes are displayed.

If you close the toolkit and then reopen it, you can reconnect to the IBM App Connect Enterprise certified container dashboard by right clicking the connection that you created at step 5 and then selecting Connect from the menu. You do not need to reenter the URL or your credentials.

When you are disconnected from the IBM App Connect Enterprise certified container dashboard, you can update your userid or password by right clicking the disconnected dashboard and selecting Modify connection from the menu. When the Connect to a Container dialog opens, update the Username and Password fields with the new details.
