Connecting to Oracle E-Business Suite

Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is a set of business applications for managing and automating customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, order management, and financial module processes within your organization. App Connect currently supports the Oracle E-Business Suite order management and financial module processes.

To connect App Connect to an Oracle E-Business Suite account, you need to provide the following connection details.

Field Description
Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL The URL of your Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service. Specify the hostname or IP address and the port number of the server in the format <http or https>://<hostname>.<domain_name>:<port>. For example, http://9.xx.xx.169:7001. For more information, contact your Oracle E-Business Suite administrator.
Username The username of your Oracle E-Business Suite account
Password The password for the specified username
Instance name The unique name of your Oracle E-Business Suite instance. For example, <http or https>://<hostname>.<domain_name>:<port>/soa-infra/services/default/<PROD>_PLSQL_FND_WEB_SEC/FND_WEB_SEC_Service is the SOAP URL where <PROD> is the instance name. For more information about how to find your instance name, see Finding your Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL and instance name.
Private network connection Select the name of a private network connection that App Connect uses to connect to your private network. This list is populated with the names of private network connections that are created from the Private network connections page in the Designer instance. You see this field only if a switch server is configured for this Designer instance. For more information, see Connecting to a private network from App Connect Designer. (In App Connect Designer 12.0.10.0-r1 or earlier instances that include this field, the display name is shown as Agent name.)

To connect to an Oracle E-Business Suite endpoint from the App Connect Connect > Applications and APIs page for the first time, expand Oracle E-Business Suite, then click Connect.

Tip:

Before you use the account that is created in App Connect in a flow, rename the account to something meaningful that helps you to identify it. To rename the account on the Applications and APIs page, select the account, open its options menu (⋮), then click Rename Account.

Creating your Secure Gateway embedded Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL

To connect Oracle E-Business Suite to App Connect, you must create a secure connection to your Oracle Web Logic Server Administration console. You can then share the Oracle Web Logic Server Administration console public URL with App Connect in the Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL field. To create the value that you need for the Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL field, complete the following steps.
Note: You might need to get the administrator of your Oracle E-Business Suite account to complete the following steps.
  1. Create a private network connection. For more information, see Connecting to a private network from App Connect DesignerConnecting to a private network.
  2. When you edit the secure agent configuration file (switchclient.json), add an endpoint object with the public URL of your Oracle Web Logic Server Administration console.
  3. When you connect App Connect to Oracle E-Business Suite, select the name of this private network connection in the Private network connection field.

Finding your Oracle E-Business Suite SOA service URL and instance name

The instance name is assigned when the Oracle E-Business Suite instance is installed for the first time. You can find this value by downloading a WSDL file.
Tip: The administrator for your Oracle E-Business Suite account might need to complete these steps.
  1. Open your Oracle E-Business Suite instance.
  2. In the navigation pane of the Administration console, click Integrated SOA Gateway > Integration Repository.
  3. Click Search.
  4. In the Internal Name field, search for one of your common WSDL files. For example, type OE_INBOUND-INT. For a list of files that you can search for, see Supported WSDL files.
  5. Click Go.
  6. Click the SOAP Web Service tab.
  7. Click View WSDL to view the WSDL file in a separate browser.
  8. In the address bar of the WSDL file, the SOA URL and instance name are displayed.

General considerations for using Oracle E-Business Suite in App Connect

  • (General consideration) You can see lists of the trigger events and actions that are available on the Applications and APIs page of the App Connect Designer.

    For some applications, the events and actions depend on the environment and whether the connector supports configurable events and dynamic discovery of actions. If the application supports configurable events, you see a Show more configurable events link under the events list. If the application supports dynamic discovery of actions, you see a Show more link under the actions list.

  • (General consideration) If you are using multiple accounts for an application, the set of fields that is displayed when you select an action for that application can vary for different accounts. In the flow editor, some applications always provide a curated set of static fields for an action. Other applications use dynamic discovery to retrieve the set of fields that are configured on the instance that you are connected to. For example, if you have two accounts for two instances of an application, the first account might use settings that are ready for immediate use. However, the second account might be configured with extra custom fields.
