Methods for creating flows

There are several ways in which you can create flows within your App Connect Designer instance.

From scratch

You can create a flow from scratch within your App Connect Designer instance. For more information, see Creating flows from scratch.

From templates

You can use a set of prebuilt templates, which are included in your App Connect Designer instance, to create flows that are identical to, or a customized version of, the supplied templates. For more information, see Creating flows from templates.

From an asset in IBM® Automation Foundation assets

If you are using IBM Cloud Pak for Integration and have access to an IBM Automation Foundation assets instance (formerly IBM Cloud Pak for Integration Asset Repository), you can create a flow in your App Connect Designer instance by using a flow that is stored as an integration asset in the Automation assets instance. For more information, see IBM Cloud Pak for Integration only: Creating and reusing assets in an Automation assets instance.

Export and import across App Connect Designer instances

You can export a flow (as a YAML file) from any App Connect Designer instance in a cluster, import the flow into your current App Connect Designer instance, and then validate the configuration of the nodes. You can also customize the flow if required. For more information, see Exporting and importing flows.
