The API discovery lifecycle in API Manager
When you manage your discovered APIs in the API Manager UI, you move them through a series of lifecycle states. From initially discovering an OpenAPI document, through to copying that document to API drafts to make it available to your API developers, and to eventual archiving.
The following sections describe the various lifecycle states for a discovered OpenAPI document.
Discovered
The OpenAPI document is discovered by the source. The document can be reviewed, and can be Copied to drafts to enable full API lifecycle management. The document can also be downloaded, hidden from view, or removed from the list of APIs.
Copied to drafts
The OpenAPI document is copied to the APIs tab in the Develop section of the API Manager UI. The API is visible to your provider organization, and can be edited and managed through the full API lifecycle. For more information, see the API development checklist and Working with API definitions.
Hidden APIs
The OpenAPI document is hidden from the list of APIs. Hidden APIs can be unhidden by clicking the Filters icon , selecting Hidden APIs under the Show category, and clicking Apply. You can then select the Show API option against the document that you want to display again. To see the API, you must then change the filter to clear the Hidden APIs checkbox.
Removed APIs
The OpenAPI document is removed from the list of APIs. If the API has been copied to drafts, the API is removed only from the list of discovered APIs; it isn't removed from the list of draft APIs. A removed API can be discovered again if it still exists in the source. If you want to remove an API document from the list, and not discover it again, you can use the Hide API option.
