Monitoring performance of APIs in federated API management

Monitor the business metrics of all APIs in a unified view or focus on a specific API. You can identify the most and least performing APIs, and different versions available for an API. It empowers you to make well-informed business decisions.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have API platform providers or API product managers user role to perform the task.

Procedure

APIs can be monitored in the following ways:
  • On the Insights page, click the APIs tab to monitor the performance of all APIs.
By default, the APIs tab renders the metrics of all the APIs pertaining to the last 1 hour. If you want to render the metrics for a different time range, select the predefined or custom time range from the Time Range menu and click Apply.
  • On the Catalog page, click the APIs tab, and click the monitor icon under the Action column corresponding to the API for which you want to view the performance metrics.
By default, the API specific monitoring Insights tab renders the metrics of all the selected API for the last 1 hour. If you want to render the metrics for a different time range, select the predefined or custom time range from the Time Range menu and click Apply.
  • On the Catalog page, click the APIs tab. Expand the API and click the monitor icon under the Action column corresponding to the API version for which you want to view the performance metrics.

By default, the API-version-specific monitoring Health tab renders the metrics for the last 1 hour. If you want to render the metrics for a different time range, select the predefined or custom time range from the Time Range menu and click Apply.

To view the list of recent activities for the API, click the Activities tab.
