Enabling the MCP server

Enable the MCP server to make it available for use across multiple sessions.

About this task

You can use the operations to enable both external and internal MCP servers that are created through the API Agent. The API Agent uses the enabled MCP servers to run the tools and operations that are defined in the MCP server.
  • Enable or disable MCP server
  • Update MCP server
  • List MCP servers
  • Retrieve information of MCP server
  • Check existence of MCP server

Procedure

To enable the MCP server, complete the following steps:

  1. Open API Agent.
  2. In the Type something field, enter the following prompt to make it available for API Agent interaction.
    Enable the MCP server with name: weather, description: 'Weather forecast service', 
    deployed url: [Add URL], and authentication token: [Add token]
    The prompt must contain the following parameters.
    • MCP server name
    • MCP server description
    • URL where the MCP server is deployed
    • Authentication token for the MCP servers
  3. To view the plan details, expand the server in the displayed proposed plan.

  4. To accept the plan, click Start.
    API Agent displays the server activation message.

    After the server activation, API Agent displays a list of suggested actions. For example, view the list of enabled servers, fetch details of the MCP server, and more.
