[Technology preview] Using Governance enforcement for validation

Governance enforcement in IBM® API Connect is used for enforced validation of API Products before they are published to catalogs.

Note: This feature is provided as a Technology Preview. As such, the feature might not be fully functional in your environment and support is limited. In addition, the feature’s appearance, functions, and name are subject to change both in this release and in later releases of API Connect.

Governance enforcement is valid for API Connect version 10.0.10.0. Use governance enforcement in IBM API Connect to validate Products and the APIs within the Products before publishing them to a catalog with API and Product rulesets. The governance enforcement rules improve the quality, security, and consistency of the APIs and Products, which can ensure that they meet specific standards, policies, and requirements before they are published to the catalog. For more information about configuring governance enforcement rules, see [Technology preview] Configuring rulesets and enforcement type.

The APIs and Products are validated based on the enforcement type that you define. You can select any of the following three enforcement types to validate APIs and Products:
  • Soft
  • Approval
  • Strict
When a product is published to the catalog, a governance validation task is automatically created depending on the enforcement type that you define.
Note: You must have the Catalog Administrator permission to define the enforcement type.

For more information about defining the enforcement type, see [Technology preview] Configuring rulesets and enforcement type.
