Version 2.0

Beginning with the July 2026 release of version 2.0, the following capabilities are available.
  • Access keys replace license keys.

    For more information, see Licensing for IBM Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools.

  • The following capabilities are available for the IntelliJ IDEA plug-in and the Visual Studio Code extension. You can use them when you analyze an application to modernize it or upgrade the Java version.
    • You can select the Java EE or Jakarta EE source and the Java EE or Jakarta EE target.
    • You can select the application server source and either the WebSphere Application Server Liberty target or IBM Modernized Runtime Extension for Java target.

Version 1.1

Beginning with the March 2026 release of version 1.1, you can use the IntelliJ IDEA plug-in to do the following tasks.
  • When you modernize an enterprise Java application, you can use the JAX-RPC source migration helper to automate the migration of many of the JAX-RPC services to JAX-WS services.
  • You can use Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools with applications that are built with non-Maven tools, but limitations apply.
Beginning with the October 2025 release of version 1.1, you can use the Eclipse IDE plug-in or the Visual Studio Code extension to do the following tasks.
  • When you modernize an enterprise Java application, you can use the JAX-RPC source migration helper to automate the migration of many of the JAX-RPC services to JAX-WS services.
