Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools overview

With IBM® Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools, you can modernize your enterprise Java applications, including WebSphere® Application Server traditional applications, to Liberty and upgrade your Java™ runtime. You first install the Eclipse IDE plug-in, the Visual Studio Code extension, or the IntelliJ IDEA plug-in, so that you can modernize or upgrade.

The product helps you easily and quickly modernize enterprise Java applications so that they use a modern Java runtime, the latest enterprise Java APIs, and current Java SE versions.

Quick start

Install the Eclipse IDE plug-in, the Visual Studio Code extension, or the IntelliJ IDEA plug-in.

As part of the installation, complete the following actions.
  1. Download IBM Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools from the appropriate marketplace.
  2. Set up your Java environment.
  3. Obtain a valid license key or a valid migration plan from IBM Application Modernization Accelerator.

After you complete the installation, you can modernize your applications or upgrade your Java version for your application.

Java application modernization

You can modernize your WebSphere Application Server traditional application to Liberty. To modernize your application, you first upload a migration plan or build and analyze your application, and then fix your application issues. For more information, see Modernizing Java applications.

Java version upgrade for your application

To upgrade your Java code, you first build and analyze your application, and then fix any issues that are identified. Depending on the issues, the ability to fix them can be automated or self-directed. For more information, see Upgrading the Java version for your application.
