Installing the IDE extension or plug-in
You can install IBM® Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools as an extension to Visual Studio Code, as a plug-in to IntelliJ IDEA, or as a plug-in to Eclipse.
After you install the extension or plug-in, you can complete the following tasks.
- If you have a migration plan from IBM Application Modernization Accelerator, you can begin modernizing your WebSphere® Application Server traditional application to Liberty.
- Apply a license key to confirm your entitlement. See Applying a license key for IBM Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools in Visual Studio Code, Applying a license key for Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools in IntelliJ IDEA, or Applying a license key for IBM Application Modernization Accelerator Developer Tools in Eclipse. If you have a migration plan from Application Modernization Accelerator, you can begin modernizing your WebSphere® Application Server traditional application to Liberty.
- Modernize your WebSphere Application Server traditional application to Liberty. To modernize your application, you first upload a migration plan or build and analyze your application, and then fix your application issues.
- Upgrade your Java™ code. To upgrade, you first build and analyze your application, and then fix any issues that are identified. Depending on the issues, the ability to fix them can be automated or self-directed.
