Strategy for diagnostics

This topic gives an overview of the strategy used by the diagnostic system to discover and analyze problems on the system.

The strategy for diagnostics is founded on:

  • Staging diagnostics based on underlying hardware capabilities according to three levels of testing:
    • Shared
    • Subtest
    • Full-test
  • Isolating defective field replaceable units (FRUs) such that there is the least impact to the system. This is accomplished by either:
    • Option Checkout
    • System Checkout
