Enabling cryptographic authentication
You can configure the existing stand-alone clients to use the NIM Service Handler (NIMSH) communication protocol with Secure Sockets layer (SSL) enabled.
The Network Installation Management (NIM) supports OpenSSL versions 0.9.6e and higher. The NIMSH communication protocol authenticates the connecting NIM master by using the SSL-encrypted certificates when the OpenSSL is installed. The NIM server and the clients in the network must operate in the same mode either by using secure NIMSH (SSL enabled) or nonsecure NIMSH (SSL disabled) communication protocol. The configurations that are in the mixed-mode are not supported.
