Using STREAMS

This section explains how to use STREAMS facilities.

Applications programmers can take advantage of the STREAMS facilities by using a set of system calls, subroutines, utilities, and operations (see List of STREAMS Programming References). The subroutine interface is upward-compatible with the existing character I/O facilities.
