You can configure a network printer and add a queue.

  • Read the documentation for your printer. You might need printer-specific information to connect and configure the printer.
  • Read the documentation for the Hewlett-Packard JetDirect card.
  • You must have root authority.

Use the following procedure if you want to configure a network printer in addition to spooling print jobs.

  1. At the system prompt, type smit mkpq and then follow the instructions to complete the task.
  2. After the print queues are successfully created, their names are displayed. Be sure to note any error messages before you exit.
  3. Use the smit chpq to customize the new print queue.
