IBM Digital Analytics application retargeting

Application integration across the Digital Analytics marketing optimization suite allows you to quickly define AdTarget audience segments directly from reports that are provided in Digital Analytics Explore.

If your organization has a license for Digital Analytics Explore in addition to AdTarget, you will notice a Target Visitors icon located next to the other application operations.

Target visitors via display ads
While you are in the context of your analysis from any report in Digital Analytics Explore, you can select one or more rows in the report by clicking the check boxes on the left side of the row to retarget the visitor population that is associated with those rows. After you select your report rows, click Target Visitors and select AdTarget: Target Visitors via Display Ads. By choosing to retarget a visitor population, you are effectively defining an AdTarget visitor segment. You will be prompted with a dialogue that summarizes your target segment criteria based on the report rows you selected. Depending on the data context, you will be asked to clarify your intended retargeting segment using the following selections boxes:
Display Column
If your report has more than one display column, identify the column on which you want to base the segment criteria. As you make your selection, you will see the Retargeting Criteria Summary update.
Action
If your report is based on a product or event column, clarify which action you want. For example, if you are targeting based on a product column you have options such as Products Abandoned, Carted, Purchased, or Viewed. If you are targeting based on an event, you have options such as Events Initiated or Completed.
Include Segment:
If your IBM® Digital Analytics Explore report has a same session segment applied to it, you also have the option to add that criteria to your retargeting segment definition by clicking the check box.
Retarget through AdTarget

After you have Transferred to AdTarget

After you click Continue, your segment definition is passed to AdTarget, and you are taken to the segment definition screen that summarizes your criteria and asks you to name the new segment. While you are in this screen, you also have the option to edit the criteria or add additional criteria. If you want to save the segment and apply it at a later time, click Save Segment. If you are ready to add to your feed or to syndicate, click Save and Syndicate in AdTarget. Then select the Behavioral Targeting Partner configurations to which you want to add this new audience segment.

Segmentation Options

Digital Analytics Explore supports a wide range of segmentation options and data fields. Only those segmentation options that Digital Analytics Explore and AdTarget have in common will be made available to you. You will be notified if your selected criteria are not applicable to AdTarget supported segment criteria. All segment definitions that are passed to the AdTarget must be "same session" in nature. The following table identifies whether or not a particular criteria definition can be passed to AdTarget. Yes indicates that it can be passed; No indicates that it cannot be passed at this time, a name value indicates that it is passed with a slightly different name, and Action Type Clarify indicates that the user will be prompted to suggest how that field should be used (for example, products purchased versus abandoned versus browsed versus carted).
