Obtaining a Db2 LUW database
IBM Dependency Based Build supports the storage and retrieval of build metadata from IBM Db2® Standard Edition for Linux®, UNIX®, and Windows™. If you want to use this Db2 database to store your build metadata, you must install and activate a copy of Db2.
1. Obtaining and installing the latest Db2 fix pack
Install the latest Db2 11.5 fix pack for DBB 2.0.x, 3.0.0, and 3.0.1. Install the latest Db2 12.1 fix pack for DBB 3.0.2 and later.
To obtain and install the latest Db2 fix pack, complete the following steps:
-
Go to the Download Db2 Fix Packs by version for DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows page in the IBM Support website.
-
Scroll down this page to the Db2 Fix Packs table and select the link to the latest level available in the Db2 11.5 or Db2 12.1 column, depending on the DBB version. The link to this level takes you to a page with download links and related information about the modification or fix service level.
Note: A link to the latest Published Security Vulnerabilities for DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows including Special Build information is also provided on the same page. -
On the page that you opened in the prior step, download and install the Db2 Universal Fix Pack specific to your operating system.
2. Registering a Db2 database
After you download and install Db2, apply the license key that is provided with the IBM Dependency Based Build media in IBM Passport Advantage®. Before the registration, extract the license certificate file (*.lic)
from the downloaded
file.
For detailed procedure, see Registering a Db2 database product or feature license key using the db2licm command.
3. Setting up the Db2 database for DBB metadata
When the installation of Db2 is complete, configure the database for storing DBB build metadata. For instructions, see Setting up Db2 as the build metadata database.
