The Configuring Advanced Archive for DFSMShsmConfiguring Archive Manager chapter provides instructions for preparing the product for use, and for setting up your Archive Database, Restore Queue file, and Cloud Definition Database. Also included is a procedure for using the SMS Archive Policy Editor. This chapter also includes important information about the product data sets, system requirements, and using the product with your EBCDIC code tables.
Note: Use the instructions that are provided in the IBM Advanced Archive for DFSMShsm Program Directory to install Advanced Archive for DFSMShsm.The Archiving inactive data chapter explains how to create and modify the JCL for archiving inactive data, adding an ML3-like policy to your existing management classes, and using the console commands to display status information or halt the process. This chapter also includes a reference for the data set selection criteria keywords and examples of their usage.
The Restoring archived data chapter provides procedures for all methods of restoring data sets from the archive to ML2 tape and for using the console commands for the batch Restore process or the automatic Restore process. This chapter also includes a reference for the data set selection criteria keywords and examples of their usage.
The Archive Database reporting chapter explains how to create a report that lists all of the Archive Database records. The Maintaining the archived data chapter provides a procedure for recycling under-utilized archive tapes. This chapter also provides a procedure for cleaning up the Archive Database by expiring the data sets that are eligible for expiration and expiring empty archive tapes from the tape management system. The procedures for cleaning up the Archive Database and for recycling archive tapes include instructions for using the console command interface.
