For policy-based replication, a two-site partnership must be
configured between the production and recovery systems. The partnership establishes a secure
connection between systems that use IP
protocols. You can use
management GUI and command-line interface to create partnership between the two systems.
To set up policy-based replication, you must configure a partnership on the
local system. After you create the partnership on the local system on the
management GUI, the replication setup checklist is displayed. Select the remote system and
click Complete Partnership to finish configuring partnership on remote
system.
Creating Fibre Channel partnership
- Using the management GUI
-
If the two-site partnership is not configured on the local system, complete
the steps that correspond with the connection you are using between systems:
To create a 2-site partnership over a Fibre Channel connection,
complete these steps:
- Configure 2-site partnerships on the local system in the management GUI by completing these
steps:
- Select and select Create Partnership.
- Select 2-site Partnership and click Continue.
- On the Create Partnership page, select Fibre
Channel.
- Select Use Policy-Based
Replication checkbox to create partnerships for policy-based replication. Uncheck the
checkbox if you want to create a partnership with Global Mirror or Metro Mirror, nondisruptive
system migration, or 3-site partnerships.
- In the View certificate, select
See details to display the certificate from the remote system. Verify that
the certificate is signed by a trusted certificate authority and that the Subject/Issuer
Name are the expected values. If the retrieved certificate is signed by an unrecognized
authority, then from the Validate certificate select Upload
File to upload the root certificate of the certificate authority that signed the partner
system's certificate.
- Enter the following information for the 2-site partnership:
- Partner System
- Select the name of the partner system.
- Link Bandwidth
- Enter the amount of bandwidth used for replication between systems in the partnership.
- Background Copy Rate
- Enter the maximum percentage of the link bandwidth that can be used for background copy
operations. Set this value so enough bandwidth is available for both systems in the
partnership.
- If you are configuring partnerships for policy-based
replication, the interactive checklist displays. The checklist automates and simplifies the
configuration of policy-based replication. In the checklist, select Complete
Partnership to configure the partnership on the remote system. If you are configuring a
partnership for another remote copy function, repeat the preceding steps on the remote system in the
partnership.
