Safeguarded Tape - Driveless logical libraries
The cartridge archive feature of the TS4300 enables a user to store cartridge in a logical library that is not accessible b y a SCSI host or other applications.
The threat of ransomware attacks are increasing. The best protection is to store backup or archive data on tape and physically put the tape on a shelf completely inaccessibly to any network. Driveless logical libraries becomes the secured shelf that is inaccessible to any network.
Driveless logical libraries are not visible to backup applications. The library can be configured to move cartridges to a vault partition when the backup application issues a move to an I/O slot. Refer to 1 and 2 in Vault partitions.
Only administrators for whom two factor authentication is configured, can retrieve cartridges from a vault partition. Refer to 3 in Vault partitions.
Go to Library > Logical Library in the management GUI to set up driveless logical libraries.
